Huzzah! I just checked. We haven’t posted anything since March 14th. But why would we have? Those guys that still live up in Whistler don’t film or do anything other than ride by themselves in the park and sit at Mogul’s for hours on end waxing intellectual and judging every single passerby. Oh, except… once a year, every year, on a magical weekend up in the small remote forest town of Whistler, Robjn Taylor dusts off his life camera to make a run at the 72 hour Film Festival. A lovely little film festival hosted by all kinds of do-good companies with slogans like, “If this were a communist country, we wouldn’t have events like these!” Give it up for democracy, kids! Because if this were a communist country, you wouldn’t have websites like this! … That post once every few months… If that.

To each according to his needs, from each according to his ability! Now I bring you a video for the people, by the people! Arbitrarily Pear!

B-Day, Seriously

The other day was Robjn’s birthday. So in celebration of himself, he paid our filmer a little extra gravy on the side, unbeknownst to us, to only film him. While pretending to carry on filming, he would stop recording whenever any of us were riding. Sadly, kids, we were all performing magnificent feats never before maneuvered on a snowboard. But I guess now you’ll never know. When confronted about this, Robjn didn’t even deny it, but instead claimed, “Well, yeah, it’s my birthday.” Because that’s the kind of guy he is.

Time Well Wasted Intro

Oh hey! Robjn here…

So last June, Kevin and the Sandbox crew hired me to direct this intro to their current movie “Time Well Wasted”. Maybe you’ve seen this concept used before and maybe you haven’t, but you definitely haven’t seen it used this exhaustively and to such a dynamic extent and with a shirtless Geeves. Filming took up the entire month and everyone involved pulled their shit together like when you’re driving home after a few drinks and (suddenly!) you end up face to face with an Officer of the Law at a roadblock or, perhaps, the scene of your accident.

Either way, it was recently awarded “Best Video Opener” by the kind and good looking people of Future Snowboard Magazine. Since there are no credits for it, here’s a quick rundown:

Grouse Mountain, Vancouver

Thanks to Jeff Silcock at Grouse Mountain for hooking us all up with passes this year. I was just on their website and noticed Manboy himself, Jesse Fox is plastered up there as some sort of poster boy. Since there haven’t been any posts on this site in a while, I’m sure Jessman will be thrilled to find out I’ve posted these photos of him. Flattering! Also, this Wednesday night is Dylan Temple’s “I’m Coming Out” 30th birthday party up at Grouse. We’ll all be up riding and having drinks in their Altitude Bistro after the shred, where Dylan will be found announcing his coming out. Congrats, Dylan! You’re only the first of many, I’m sure. Is Matt Morgan next? Place your bets in the comment area.

Snowiness is Snowboarding… for the Internet

Our dear friends over at Snowiness appear to be back up and at it. It’s fairly bare now, but I’d imagine that’s because it hasn’t even been up for a day yet. There will be a feature there now to submit videos / news of your own — and with one click, so long as it’s not spam, Andrew will be able to give it a check-mark of approval, and voila, it will appear on the site. Should make for a good community area for videos from all corners.

It’s dumping up in Whistler right now, so I would suggest you bolt up there for the weekend where it’s going to dump 15cm,20cm,40cm, over the next three days.

I’d also like to say get well soon to Phil Thomas who blew his ACL and broke his tib/fib combo in the park on Blackcomb today. Below is a photo of Sollors and Phil drinking at some bar, somewhere, sometime.

Bang Bang!

If you like snowboarding then you probably like these guys over at Isenseven. I know this, because I barely like snowboarding and I like them a lot. I went over to their site today and saw there were some videos up there I hadn’t seen yet. This one is from back in August, but I figured I’d post a link to it since it’s my new favorite snowboarding clip… ever. It’s mostly my favorite clip because it involves: dudes playing drinking games, more dudes sitting around, dudes chugging, barely any girls, a guy with his pants down, then a girl in her underwear, and barely any snowboarding, then more dudes wrestling with each other. From what I can tell, it looks like these guys drink as much as me — in fact, I swear that the house they’re in at around 3min 30sec is in Whistler, and I was there. So my question to you, Isenseven, is this: Did I hot tub with you and a bunch of dudes in our underwear? This is also the perfect video since tonight is Friday, and I’ll be partaking in similar activities… except at an expensive bar with bottle service, high priced hookers, and not nearly as many dudes trying to touch me.

Whistler Sandbox Premier

So tomorrow night the Sandbox crew is having a second showing of their video Time Well Wasted up in Whistler at Buffalo Bills. Here’s the pitch right from the horse’s mouth

If you missed the Whistler premiere in September, here’s your second chance. We will be showing our new film, ‘Time Well Wasted’ at Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, November 21st. Doors open at 8pm. Come out, have a drink with us and check out the show.

Note the last line, specifically “come out, have a drink with us”. If you live in Whistler, or can make it up for the showing — I’d strongly suggest you get up there and find Sani. He’ll have drink tickets — and hey, he invited you. If you need a second excuse, the intro alone is worth the drive to Acton. Our very own Robjn Taylor put it together, and it’s got all of the Longhorn girls naked in it.
